After the Washington Public Power Supply System (WPPSS, pronounced "whoops") had spent about $25 billion (1970s) dollars, the project was way behind, unpopular, and hence killed, resulting in the largest bond default in US history - $2.25 billion. Now, it serves as a site for movie makers (The Hunger Games, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and a "Metal Church" video), photographers, musicians (insane echoes inside the cooling towers), and anyone else fascinated by large scale failure, or simply wanting to brighten their day with a little dystopia.
